Dear colleagues, sharing the information below on behalf of the ESOL Leads Network, Dehra

"Please see below information from the Home Office on a new set of resources to support volunteers and organisations running conversation clubs online. There is a webinar on the resources on 23rd February, 11-12:15, for which you can sign up below. There are some very useful resources in the bottom link as well you can explore in the meantime,

MHCLG are pleased to announce new Volunteers, English language learners and conversation clubs resources to support volunteers and organisations running conversation clubs online. The resources have been commissioned by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government and developed by Learning and Work Institute and Learning Unlimited.

During the pandemic, many organisations have started to organise conversation clubs online. Informed by research with organisations and volunteers, the resources include a range of practical tips for getting started online, planning and managing sessions, and adapting the VELLCC materials for use online.

The new resources include:

  • A guide to running conversation clubs online for volunteers
  • A guide to running conversation clubs online for organisations

To launch these new resources, there is an introductory webinar, which you can sign up for below.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

Following the webinar launch, the new resources will be free to all and available on the current VELLCCwebsite: learningandwork.org.uk/resources/research-and-reports/volunteers-english-language-learners-and-conversation-clubs"
