Professional Love Pedagogy in a Youth-Work

Dundee University School of Humanities

Starting Sep 2023

If you, your team or a group of young people that you work with would be interested in taking part that would be awesome! get involved a lot or a little! I am hoping that the research will involve art (all mediums), creative writing, focus groups, questionnaires etc. etc. But it needs to undertaken sensitively, comfortably, with joy and be based on empowerment. Initial  Questions

What is 'professional' love?

Does 'professional' love contribute to; Youth Work Outcomes & it's nature and purpose?

If yes why how does it manifest?

If not why not?

Is love and should love be a part of a youth workers and young people’s

professional relationship?

The research process involved within this PHD will be based on the nature and

purpose of youth work and demonstrate its outcomes. The process is as

important as the product.

The findings of this PHD within the Community Learning and Development

Youth Work professional field will stimulate debate, re-examine boundaries,

contribute to professional learning, promote critical reflection, challenge

professional language/jargon, redefine relationships, maybe influence policy, provide

a model for ‘thinking about Professional Love’ and redress the fear and un-

comfortability of love's role within Youth Work.
